The Microbiome Sunless Complex

The first professional spray tan solution formulated for skin microbiome health.

Most spray tan solutions are formulated to deliver color. That's it. Apply, develop, rinse. The skin is treated like a surface -- something to work on, not with. And that assumption is exactly why so many tans look great on day one and fall apart by day three. We built Sainte Cacao around a different principle. A good tan starts with good skin. The Microbiome Sunless Complex is how we put that into practice.

What the microbiome has to do with tanning

Your clients' skin is a living environment. Billions of microorganisms regulate barrier function, control inflammation, and directly influence how the outermost layer of skin behaves on any given day. When that ecosystem is healthy, the barrier is intact. Moisture stays in. Skin cells are organized and hydrated at the surface. When it's disrupted -- by harsh formulas, stripping cleansers, or over-exfoliation -- the barrier breaks down. Skin becomes reactive, uneven in texture, and inconsistent in how it absorbs DHA. DHA reacts with amino acids in the outermost layer of skin. That reaction is sensitive to the condition of the surface. Uneven texture means uneven color. Compromised barrier means accelerated fade. This is not a new problem in sunless tanning. It's just never been solved.

Three ingredients. One system.

Agave Inulin

A prebiotic that feeds the beneficial bacteria living on skin. A well-supported microbiome produces a more even surface -- and a more even surface means more consistent DHA uptake. Smoother color because the skin it's developing on is smoother.

Sea Buckthorn Oil

One of the only plant oils that contains Omega-7, a fatty acid that directly supports skin cell repair and regeneration. DHA development is mildly oxidative. The skin is doing real work during that process. Sea Buckthorn Oil gives the barrier what it needs to stay intact through development -- not recover from it after.

Beta Glucan

DHA triggers a mild irritation response at the skin level -- not always visible, but present. That low-grade inflammation contributes to uneven color and patchy fading. Beta Glucan calms that response during development. The result is a more consistent reaction between DHA and skin, and a fade pattern that earns you a rebook.

What this means for your work

The Microbiome Sunless Complex does not replace good prep or strong technique. It creates a better starting environment -- so your technique performs at its ceiling, not some compromised version of it.

In a client survey of 100 people:
97% reported color lasting 7 or more days before noticeable fading
99% reported even, gradual fading
100% said the color looked natural

That is what happens when you stop working against the skin and start working with it.

Why no other brand is doing this

The professional sunless market has spent decades focused on color chemistry. Undertones. DHA percentages. Bronzer ratios. All of that matters. But the skin biology underneath all of it has been almost entirely ignored.
No other professional spray tan brand has built microbiome support into their core formulation. Not because it's complicated -- because it requires a different starting question.
Most brands ask: how do we make a better color?
We asked: how do we make skin that develops better color?
That is the difference. And once you see it, you cannot unsee it.

The tan is the result. The skin is the work.

Artists who switch to Sainte Cacao don't go back. Not because our formulas look different in the bottle -- but because the results hold up in a way they weren't expecting. Explore the full professional line and see what your work looks like when the formula is actually on your side.
